Poldark and West Cornwall

The Crowns Tin Mines

The recent BBC series ‘Poldark’ was filmed in Cornwall in the summer of 2014.

‘Poldark’ by the author Winston Graham tells the tale of Ross Poldark, a British Army officer who returns to his home in Cornwall after seeing action in the American Revolutionary War.

Porth Gwarra Fishing Cove

Locations in West Cornwall where filming took place include Botallack, Levant and Porthgwarra, showing off the atmospheric mine ruins dramatically positioned on the cliffs and the picturesque fishing coves.

Levant Mine itself played the role of the fictional Tressiders Rolling Mill while Owles and Crowns near Botallack starred as Ross Poldark’s Wheal Leisure.

West Cornwall is a fantastic location to explore the areas where Poldark was filmed (as if you needed an excuse!).
